Across The Night Sky I Ride in
Dreams Poems
ACROSS THE NIGHT SKY I RIDE
Across the night sky I ride
In search for the cloaked figure.
The figure in my dreams, in my thoughts.
He’s tall, faceless and black as night itself.
The figure who’s stench is cold,
Forces a chill through my bones.
As I ride on through the night,
I’m passed by the black dog.
With his death like breath, staining the air.
His beating red eyes.
He wonders the plains, the forest.
As I ride on, the shuck follows me.
The crows caw as I ride through the pines.
With no sight of them I can feel their heavy eyes,
As if the figure is watching my every move.
As I come to the break, I am halted by a giant Oak.
As the crows perch upon it’s lifeless branches,
The shuck sitting, starring, patiently waiting.
He comes.
The cloaked figure makes his appearance.
Suddenly I am still.
Unable to move, unable to scream,
he puts his lifeless arms around me,
Sucking out my breath,
Removing what life resides inside me,
Unable to fight, I am helpless.
A twig snaps in the pines.
A bright orb floating across the break,
He is stunned, he is pushed away, he is gone.
Now I deeply gasp for air,
And my eyes open.
