Which one is better? Nikon D40, Pentax K100D Super, Canon 350D or Olympus Evolt E500? Please state the price.?
Jack, I think you need to do your own side by side comparison of these 4 cameras. Its impossible for anyone to know your wants and needs in a camera. You need to think about exactly how you’ll be using the camera and what features and benefits are important to you. Make a list of what you consider “must have” features and choose the camera that fulfills all or most of them.
Yes, this is much harder than simply having 4 out of 5 people say “Nikon” or “Canon” or “Pentax” or “Olympus” and then buying that one based on someone else’s opinion.
There is no intent to denigrate the opinions of others. They can be useful and informative. However, Jack, the only opinion that really matters is yours.
Your local professional camera store would be a good place to start. Its always best to handle each camera and see how it “feels” in your hands. One of the 4 will “feel” better and more comfortable to you. Suppose you base your decision on opinion in here and choose a Nikon and it just “feels” clumsy to you? Then what do you do?
