Did someone in particular introduce to the world of books when you were young?
My mother did. I remember the set of 7 children’s books she bought and was so excited to give me. They are on my top bookshelf now in their place of honor.

My grandmother was a teacher for many years. She lived in a small rural town and rode a horse to school to teach her classes every day. Some years later after I was born and long after she had retired, she taught me to read and sew. I was 4, and she would sit down with me and the old “Dick and Jane” school primers to teach me to read. Although no one was able to find those books after her death, I found a collection of them all recently at a book store. I bought them in preparation for teaching my own children to read, but also in memory of the things that my grandmother taught me.
